Our previous posts have talked about women in the forces being elevated to higher positions and many of them being the first to do so. We talked about the Supreme Court of India’s verdict where women officers will be granted Permanent Commission in 10 streams and a chance to move up the ranks like their male counterparts. We also did a post on Flight Lieutenant Bhawana Kanth, becoming India's first woman fighter pilot to participate in the 2021 Republic Day fly-pass.

Today we celebrate Squadron Leader Aashritha V Olety from Karnataka graduating from the Air Force Test Pilots School (AFTPS) which is one of the few test pilot schools in the world. Since the courses inception in 1973 only about 275 graduated have cleared it. More respect and power to Squadron Leader Olety for doing so.

While this is a great achievement there is drastic change needed in the attitudes toward the roles and rights of women in the forces. These news pieces do talk about inclusion but there is still a long way to go.
